About Lori
Lori has been a life-long resident of Florida, growing up in Margate and Plantation and graduating from Nova High School. She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate from Tufts University and then attended the National Law Center at George Washington University where she was a member of the Journal of International Law and Economics. She married Jeff Ganeles and moved to Philadelphia to start her legal career in Philadelphia in commercial litigation and insurance defense. In 1987, they moved to Washington D.C. where Lori practiced regulatory and real estate law.
Lori returned to Florida in 1989, moving to Boca Raton, and practicing law as in-house counsel to a federal savings bank. She became actively involved in politics during Robert Wexler’s first campaign for Congress and joined his team as a legislative aid during his first term. She returned to the University of Miami Law School and earned a LLM in Estate Planning, then joined the local law firm of Belson and Lewis to practice estate planning law.
Lori has a long record of community service starting in her early professional life in Philadelphia. Since moving to Florida, she has held many leadership positions within Jewish Federation, focusing on women’s issues, philanthropy, providing project seed money and emergency help. She has been involved in public and private educational support, raising funds and volunteering at Pine Crest School, Donna Klein Jewish Academy and Spanish River Community High School. Lori is a graduate of the Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Boca program, a member of the Florida Bar Association and an active participant of B’nai Torah Congregation.
Lori enjoys playing tennis, skiing, hiking, travel, and reading. She was the Boca Raton blogger for the Sun-Sentinel and has been a book club member for 15 years. Lori has been married for over 25 years and has two children, Caryn a senior at Cornell University and Steven a freshman at Boston University.
